One of the most jnteresting aspects of this reality is the number of accomplished science fiction authors who are also highly accomplished scientists and engineers. Heinlein is one example, but a more modern one would be Travis Taylor who, if I recall correctly, has about eleventeen degrees, has been an engineer and physicist, a competitive martial artist and cyclist and a television personality. To me, some of the best science fiction is written by those who can not only see clearly the things that are, but artfully blend those things with an interesting vision of what could be.
